My name is Hacksun Cha.
Since 2012, I have been co-translating the Veritable Records of the Joseon Dynasty into English under the auspices of the National Institute of Korean History.
In 2012, the English translation project of the Veritable Records of the Joseon Dynasty of Korea was designated as the 82nd Patronage Project by the Union Académique Internationale, “the global organization of national academies in the fields of the humanities and social sciences.”
The first volume of the Veritable Records of King Sejong, of which I am a co-translator, was published in 2017, and its second volume, translated by me in its entirety, is projected for publication in 2018.
In September 2018, I will be presenting a report on my hands-on experience of translating the Veritable Records into English at the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies in Seoul National University for the occasion of the Standing Committee meeting of the Union Académique Internationale to be held in Seoul, South Korea.
